EYP represented at the EU Sustainable Energy Week in Brussels

In EYP, young people engage with the most pressing challenges of our time and offer fresh perspectives on how to solve them. Thanks to the EYP Power Shifts project, we had a chance to share the youth’s opinions on the future of energy with decision-makers attending the EU Sustainable Energy Week in Brussels.

Last week more than 3200 participants gathered in Brussels for the biggest event dedicated to renewables and efficient energy use in Europe – the EU Sustainable Energy week. With 90 policy sessions and 100 networking activities, EUSEW brings together stakeholders, companies and educational institutions from the whole continent to discuss the future of Europe’s energy. This year the EYP’ Power Shifts Project was represented by the EYP Governing Body member, Noura Berrouba and the EYP International Office Project Manager, Helena Karnitskaya.

To enable future transition to renewable energy all stakeholders and interested parties should be involved and strive for dialogue and better understanding. having youth opinions on the topic represented is thus essential. To make an opinion of young people heard on the EU-level, Noura held an Energy Talk presenting the EYP Power Shifts project. She presented the outputs of 22 discussions on energy that took in EYP at the regional, national and international level. The results were summarized as creative multimedia content by participants of the Power Lab 2019 that took place at the beginning of June. Have a glimpse in how it went.

“Power Shifts – Reflecting Europe´s Energy” Project encourages young people from across Europe to explore and discuss European energy policy. By taking part in the project’s activities, participants learn ways of engaging and fostering the debate on energy in their communities, from a local up to the European level. The project is run by the European Youth Parliament and the Schwarzkopf Foundation in cooperation with the innogy Stiftung für Energie und Gesellschaft.
